Alka and Gursewak's Wedding and Reception
__________________________________________________________________________________
It was an early morning wakey for us this day. We reached at the groom's place at about 0700 on one of the colder winter mornings to cover all the pre-wedding rituals. Everyone was set for the ritual and the house was being decorated with colourful patterns on the floor.
"BAARAT, BRIDAL, SHAADI, BIDAAI AND GIDHA"
The female members of the family then started preparing for the PITHI ritual where turmeric along with other herbs is applied to the groom-to-be's hands and face. They sang traditional wedding songs which were very interesting. Once all the rituals were complete, we left for the wedding ceremony at the Glenwood/Parklea GURUDWARA.
On reaching the place, the bride was almost ready and was waiting in one of the rooms in the gurudwara. We had some great bridal shots during this time. The bride looked absolutely stunning and was a natural poser. The wedding ceremony started shortly after that and lasted for about an hour.
After the ceremony, the bride and groom left for their home where they had a small ceremony to welcome them as a couple. Soon after the ritual, they were into the mood for GIDHA: singing and dancing.
POST-WEDDING PHOTO-SHOOT
After having refreshments, the couple wanted some candid and posed shots in a nearby reserve: NURRAGINGY RESERVE, BLACKTOWN. It has an entrance off Knox road, DOONSIDE. It is a fabulous place with a GAZEBO on a small hill. There are so many picturesque locations in this reserve, for photoshoots. The groom formally "proposed" the bride in this GAZEBO - guess the bride had no option, but to say YES.
